Chris Defranco recently undertook an export project for some Prysmian FP400 Cable that was delivered into Algiers port, Algeria. Chris was asked to supply 13,000 metres of Prysmian FP400, 2 Core x 2.5mm² LSZH 0.6/1KV SWA BS7846 with a red outer sheath. The client who is an engineering company in the oil sector required the non-standard FP400 cable to be supplied within challenging timescales and with a competitive price.
Working closely with the customer and Prysmian, Chris won the contract to supply the FP400 Cable which was specifically being used as fire alarm cable at the Algiers Refinery Rehabilitation and Adaptation Project which is located 10km south of Algiers. The refinery produces motor fuels and LPG for the local market and exports naphtha and fuel oil. The cable was required for the oil refinery as it is currently being revamped to increase its crude oil processing capacity and to ensure that it can produce petrol at specifications similar to those used throughout Europe.
Chris liaised with the customer and the manufacturer Prysmian and on a 12 week lead time supplied the bespoke manufactured 13km of cable on 6 x 2Km drums and a 1 x 1KM drum all with the non-standard red outer sheath. Speaking about the project, Chris said “normally the Prysmian FP400 cable comes with a black outer sheath and is a standard off the shelf product. Working closely with Prysmian, we were able to provide this bespoke manufactured product to them within the challenging timescales they requested”.
Chris went on to say “Once the cable had arrived into our warehouse from Prysmian, we prepared it for transit including the appropriate export documentation and organised the 15 day sea transit to Algiers Port”.
